Near the Confluence | 2019

Confluence is an amalgamation of my thoughts concerned with particular mode of art from the East and the West. While I was fascinated by the representations of Raja Ravi Varma, I often used to think and wonder what West constituted at that point of time. The passages I travelled to constitute the pictorial representations comprise a set of ideas I have often dabbled with, needless to say, that of Edouard Manet, Van Gogh , Paul Gauguin and many others. In Confluence, the juxtaposed images in my canvas speak about different time frames and ideas that shaped my artistic oeuvre in contemporary times. Through these depictions, I intend to bridge the continental gap of the East and the West. Each of these paintings has a message of shaping up a new imagination. The juxtaposed images are thus both a new avenue of viewing the platforms of artistic practices and a methodology of looking at what the great masters of art intended. I would like to open up a new vista of viewing by this hybrid and confluent assemblage of images and ideas.
